Difference between fibre optics and network cable

2016-10-16

1. Different materials: most optical fibres are made of glass fibre, short for optical fibre, which is a light-conducting tool, and its transmission principle is "total reflection of light"; the conductor is a copper core, mainly coaxial cables, optical fibre cables and twisted-pair cables. Different materials also lead to different technical indicators.

2. Transmission distance: Theoretically, the network cable transmission distance within 100 metres. Single-mode optical fibre can achieve 10-20km transmission, while multi-mode optical fibre can achieve 2km to 3km information transmission, much higher than the network cable.

3. Function:The existence of optical fibre speeds up the transmission of network information. It exists as a tool for information transmission and network cables are used to connect devices to ensure that they communicate with each other.

4.Application Scenario:Network cables are used for communication transmission and can provide users with interactive multimedia information such as network interactive games, remote video monitoring, and work conference videos. Network cabling is connecting devices, engineering cabling, network connections, device port connections, such as hubs, firewalls, switches and so on.

5. Product Nature:Network cable is the carrier of information transmission and a physical medium; optical fibre is an abstract concept, it is the transmission rate of dynamic information.

6. Mode of existence:Optical fibre exists in a virtual way, the optical fibre line is its carrier; network cable is a real cable, there are specific objects.
